Back inscription: Arbanes / A Soldier ArbaneesAn Albanian soldier. Standing, full length, for a stone wall. The right hand on the barrel of a gun. Part of a series of paintings with Turkish subjects from Turkey to the Netherlands brought by the ambassador Cornelis Calkoen and his cousin Nicholas in 1817 bequeathed to the Department of the Levant trade in Amsterdam.
